Description: In June 2004, the realization of the programme “Integration of Refugees in Aleksinac Municipality”, funded by the German government through the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, has started. Implementation of the project consisted of the construction component – construction of one three-floor apartment building with 24 housing units (for 21 refugee families residing in Aleksinac as well as 3 extremely socially vulnerable families from domicile population)

and income-generation component – support to 40 business activities, through donation of equipment and/or material, average value of 1200 EUR. Beneficiaries of this programme were socially vulnerable refugees, IDPs and local population, with sound business ideas for starting or developing individual economic activities that would provide them with regular income.Each beneficiary was obliged to repay 15% of the total value of the donation, to register the start-up activity, to donate 10 hours of labour input in favour of local community and to participate in the training defined by HELP.The financial resources collected through above-mentioned 15% repayment were reinvested into improvement of tourist facilities on Bovan lake, situated within the municipal territory.
