HELP/ENECA/ EDEAS have started information campaign in the Cities and Municipalities included in the project „Poverty reduction through local economic development in the South Serbia“.
In cooperation with the targeted cities and municipalities, based on the CA’s signed in July, implementing partners EDEAS and ENECA have organized information campaing for all interested applicants with the sound and viable business idea who wants to start their own businesses.
Information campaing consists of numerous meetings at wich the project is going to be presented in its details and applications distributed.

JULY 2010

In July HELP signed cooperation agreements with the cities and municipalities on the project “Poverty reduction through local sustainable development in the South Serbia”, financed by the German Government through the Stability Pact for the SE Europe, and targeted cities and municipalities Nis, Vranje, Aleksinac, Bujanovac, Pirot and Presevo.

Programme “Poverty reduction through local sustainable development in the South Serbia” aims at sustainable development focusing on the empowerment of the local economic structures through creation of the new jobs.
The programme envisages three components:  

1. Creation of new jobs through start-up businesses and entrepreneurship development in which a 287 clients (Niš, Vranje, Aleksinac, Bujanovac, Pirot, Presevo) will be supported in their intentions to start-up or expand their businesses. Those who sign grant contracts will receive equipment/material average value of up to 2.000,00 eur.
2. Cooperative development – supporting establishment and development of agricultural and or other production cooperatives (Nis, Aleksinac) by combining available resources to more efficiently market and brand the products and improving the cooperative members’ income. Average value of the equipment to be provided to the cooperative, is  15.000,00 EUR.
3. Waste management improvement - special initiative based on the environmental protection strategies for the waste management issues solution, as for the moment it is the biggest problem in regard to the environmental protection (Nis, Pirot). Within this component, 20 clients will receive equipment/material per 4.000,00 EUR.

Mandatory accompanying activities are business and vocational trainings as well as business advisory services.

After signing the cooperation agreements in the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo, Mr. Stegelmann attended opening of the School for children with special needs in  Preševo. In cooperation with the Coordination Body and Association of parents of children with special needs from Presevo, with Mr.Zejni Ymeri, HELP enabled opening of this school. The total value of the equipment provided for the school amounts to 4.000,00 euros.
Mr. Zejni Ymeri expressed satisfaction with the achieved results  and gratititude to the both HELP and Coordination body for helping realization of the Association’s goals, and giving the children with special needs the opportunity to gain knowledge. Minster for government and local self-government  and President of the Coordination body Mr. Milan Markovic, also attended the opening of the school with the Director of CB Mr. Nenad Đurđević.

INFORMATION MEETINGS WITHIN THE PROJECT "SUPPORT TO REFUGEES AND IDPs IN SERBIA" HELD

During April and May 2010, information meetings in regard to distribution of construction material and IGA components were organized by HELP and the representatives of City councils in Sremska Mitrovica, Smederevo, Kragujevac and Kraljevo.

These meetings were attended by approximately 550 people in total, while more than 630 application forms were distributed. A certain number of additional applications were left with the relevant offices of the City councils for those who were unable to attend the meetings.

The deadlines for submitting filled-in applications are as follows:

for the IGA component

2. beneficiaries from Kraljevo: until 10.05.2010
3. beneficiaries from Kragujevac: until 10.05.2010

HELP STARTED IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT "ASSISTANCE TO REFUGEES AND IDPs IN SERBIA"

In December 2009, the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia and HELP signed the contract in regard to the implementation of the project „Assistance to Refugees and IDPs in Serbia“. This project is a part of an overall EU programme, under IPA 2008.

The objective of the project is to contribute to the creation of durable solutions in order to address the IDP/Refugee challenge in Serbia in line with the National Strategy for Resolving the Problems of Refugees and IDPs and other relevant strategic documents.  To this end, the project will facilitate the access of a certain number of vulnerable refugees, IDPs and domicile poor to housing solutions and income generation support.

Besides the European Union, through the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia, the project was financially supported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the cities included in the project: Sremska Mitrovica, Smederevo, Kragujevac and Kraljevo. During the project implementation, HELP will closely cooperate with a local partner - NGO “Advisory - Service Centre for Development of Entrepreneurs – INTEGRA” from Kraljevo.

Project implementation started on 01.02.2010, and will last for 17 months, until 30.06.2011, covering the cities of: Sremska Mitrovica, Smederevo, Kragujevac, Kraljevo and Novi Pazar.

In the initial phase of the project implementation, during February and March 2010, cooperation contracts were signed with Kraljevo, Smederevo, Kragujevac and Sremska Mitrovica, while in April the information campaign will be conducted and information meetings organized in the mentioned cities. The dates and locations of those meetings will be published on our web site at a later stage.
