Help Japan

Dear HELP supporters,
Karin SetteleShocked since Friday we follow the development of disasters in Japan. As if one event alone had not already done enough damage, this land was hit by earthquakes, tsunamis and now is threatened by potential meltdown in the nuclear plants.
HELP tried to take immediate action for the affected people of Japan, unfortunately the entry of our own team was not possible at that moment. Therefore we work in Japan together with the local relief organization JEN.
JEN is a Japanese relief organization, helping people in need since 1994 and being active in many regions of the world like earthquakes in Japan, tsunami in Indonesia or in Haiti in 2010. JEN has already sent a team to the difficultly accessible earthquake area and Fukushima prefectures of Miyagi for the purpose of rendering emergency assistance.
Aid workers are aware that this operation and the situation on the ground probably scale beyond their imagination. Their assistance will focus on the needs of survivors and evacuated people with hygiene items, clothing, blankets and items of daily needs, and psycho-social care for traumatized children.
HELP has worked with JEN in Serbia jointly supporting elderly people with food parcels. Today we can relate to JEN and the people of Japan and give our solidarity and support.

So I ask you today to show your support for the people of Japan. Every donation is welcomed.

Sincerely,
Karin Settele

Solidarity with Kraljevo

The earthquake that hit Kraljevo on Nov 3rd caused a lot of damage to its citizens leaving many homeless. Situation in rural areas is especially difficult with over 7900 houses damaged. Out of this number 1300 has been hit the hardest since 450 needs to be rebuilt from scratch and 850 houses needs immediate repair.
Delegation of German Economy for Serbia and Montenegro and German Business Association in Belgrade, in cooperation with the German Embassy and German humanitarian non-governmental organization HELP-Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. have organized fundraising for the most endangered population of the City of Kraljevo, hit by the earthquake.

Solidarity with Kraljevo

HELP will, as organization present in Serbia since 1999 providing endengered groups of population with socio-humanitarian relief followed by the economic development projects, this time as well provide needed assistance.

Kraljevo, November 2010

Earthquake that hit the City of Kraljevo closed 726 houses putting them out of use, and more than 3000 to be rebuilt, and while the estimation of the commission for damage assessment continues, everybody work hard on clearing debris and waste. So far 1 million tiles has been distributed to the households hit by the earthquake, and at least that much is still needed, as well as the iron, brick and cement. There is a need for prefabricated houses in the rural area at least 150 according to the first estimations, as well as the social housing buildings for the roofless in the city.
